The formal dedication of the new 18,000-square-foot visitor center at Arches National Park occurred on Saturday, September 17, 2005.

The old visitor center building was incorporated into the new one, saving bricks, waste disposal, and new materials.  Desert landscaping surrounds the building, which blends nicely with the surrounding terrain.

The Visitor Center is open All Year (except Christmas day) from  8am to 4:30pm, with extended hours in spring through fall.  It's located along Highway 191, about a mile north of Moab the northern end.

The park orientation program is shown in the auditorium every half hour.  There is a museum with world-class exhibits on the park's natural and cultural history. The sales area features books, maps and other publications.

Modern, spacious restrooms and drinking water are available. The visitor center and a drinking fountain at the beginning of the Devils Garden trail are the only two places where water is available in the park, so fill up all your water bottles at the center. There is no food sold at the visitor center or elsewhere in Arches.

There is an outdoor exhibit area, that is lit until midnight, for those who want information after the center is closed.
